Dentists are bearer of bad news, but we would not have to be if people took care of their teeth as they are suppose to. People are always saying that each time they visit a dentist they tell them they have a cavity. Do you know what we tell them at Spring Cypress Dental?
For once, we wish patients who come for regular teeth cleaning will not heavily drink sugared drinks, chew on hard candy, chew gum, and many other harmful habits giving room to cavities. We bet that is your wish too! You also wish never to hear a dentist in Spring Cypress tell you that you are due for a teeth cleaning to eliminate the cavity. Do you know what? This can happen. By avoiding the following habits, you will remain cavity-free:
1. Stop Goings Nuts for Sugar
We all love sugar because it tastes yum and one bite of that
sugary snack is pure heaven that you want to eat more of it. While you are
licking your fingers, eating every last bit of the sticky sugar on your hand,
your mouth is becoming a vacation home for cavities. Put a tape on your mouth
and stay away from gum, cough drops, mint, hard candy, antacids, and more.
2. Stop Getting High on Caffeinated Drinks
Are you one of those people who come from school or work and
pops open the soda can and drinks it as if it is water? If your answer to that
question is a yes, you need to stop immediately. Drinks are not only bad for
your teeth, but also bad for your health. In fact, all doctors of every field
advise their patients not to gulp down more than one soda drink each day.
What You Need to Do Instead
1. You Need to Brush and Floss Your Teeth
When the plaque on your teeth changes from sugar into acid,
you need to sound the alarm, as the cavity has holed up in your one of your
teeth. To tell the cavity that there is no room free for them to reside, you
need brush and floss your teeth regularly. You cannot just brush your teeth and
not think of doing the other, as you need to floss and brush. See them as a
team that need to work together to keep your mouth free of cavities.
Toothpaste containing fluoride will be the ultimate
defensive technique to keep your teeth free of cavities. Fluoride delays the
occurrence of new cavities forming and eliminates cavities just starting to
form. You can even use mouthwash that contains fluoride to wash out your mouth
after meals and after brushing your teeth.
If you have not visited a dentist in a long time, your mouth is in trouble. Contact us to request a dental appointment. Spring Cypress Dental will make sure your teeth remain cavity-free, and we hope at your next dental cleaning appointment, we have good news to report to you of not having any cavities.
